Jul 31, 2008, 11:19 GMT
Taipei - Air Macau will fly 10 tons of Taiwan fruits free of charge to the Beijing Olympics for the athletes, reporters and sports officials, the Central News Agency (CNA) said Thursday.
Air Macau Manager David Fei was quoted by CNA as saying that Air Macau begins the shipment on Thursday and will continue until the end of the Beijing Olympics.
In the coming month, every few days, Air Macau will fly a load of Taiwan fruit from Taipei to Beijing, to be sent to the Athletes' Village and shared by reporters and members of the organizing committee of the Beijing Olympics (BOCOG).
Four kinds of Taiwan fruits - pineapple, star fruit (Yang Tao), guava, mango - have been chosen by BOCOG as among the fruits to be served to the athletes during the August 8-24 Beijing Olympic Games.
