Australia offers Indonesia 640-million-dollar loan

Sydney - Australia has offered Indonesia a loan of 1 billion Australian dollars (640 million US dollars) to help Jakarta through the global financial crisis, officials in Canberra said Wednesday.
The Indonesian government has been seeking emergency financial support from several nations and international institutions.
The official announcement of the loan came from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who was in Bali for a conference and talks with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
