Ma Ying-Jeou is good at giving himself credits for doing nothing. What he claims as a success of tension reduction is done through breaking the democracy and judicial systems in Taiwan. In fact, in the past 6 months, Ma Ying-Jeou successfully raised international attention for politically prosecuted Taiwan’s opposite leaders. His self claim of the beacon of democracy in Asia is contradict to a recent article published in Time magazine challenging democracy in Asia. His direct sea, air, and postal links between Taiwan and China further meteorite Taiwan’s economy. The international media should be aware that Ma broke his campaign promises. Before the presidential election, he promised that the future of Taiwan can only be decided by 23 million Taiwanese. After the election, his envoy signed 4 secret agreements with China. Before the election, he had promised no free flows of labor, capital, and goods between China and Taiwan. After the election, he immediately lifts restrictions of free flows of labor, capital, and goods between the Taiwan strait. The international media should not listen to Ma’s words, but see what he does.
