Apr 14, 2009, 6:42 GMT
Tokyo - Twelve crew members on a Japanese fishing boat went missing Tuesday after their vessel sank off the coast of southern Nagasaki province, media reports said.
Ten others were rescued by other fishing boats and taken to a hospital with one of them suffering an injured finger, the Kyodo News Agency quoted the Japan Coast Guard.
The Daiei Maru No 11, which was out for mackerel fishing, sank when it was engulfed in high waves about 12.6 kilometres from Hirado Island in southern Japan Tuesday morning.
The Japan Coast Guard has dispatched seven patrol boats and two aircraft in search for the missing fishermen.
