France condemns North Korea's nuclear test
May 25, 2009, 8:16 GMT
Paris - The French government Monday strongly condemned North Korea's nuclear test and called on Pyongyang to 'refrain from any new provocation.'
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the French government called on North Korea 'to resume discussions within the Group of Six with the aim of the complete, irreversible and verifiable dismantling of its nuclear program.'
French leaders will 'in the next few hours' talk with fellow members of the UN Security Council about how to respond to 'this grave act,' the statement said.
One of the issues to be discussed will be a reinforcement of sanctions against the government in Pyongyang, Paris said.
