Uighurs protest in Istanbul against Chinese "brutality"
Jul 6, 2009, 15:44 GMT
Istanbul - Several hundred Uighur demonstrators protested in Istanbul Monday against Chinese 'brutality' after at least 140 people were officially stated to have been killed and more than 800 injured in clashes between Uighurs and police in western China.
Chanting 'we are not terrorists' and 'we are Turks, we are Moslems, we are Uighurs', the protesters waved banners of the Uighur independence movement in the downtown protest.
Chinese police were reported earlier to have arrested several hundred rioters following the violence, which began after a protest by Uighurs on Sunday in the regional capital of Urumqi, the official Xinhua news agency quoted a Xinjiang police spokesman as saying.
The US-based World Uighur Congress quoted witnesses as saying scores of Uighurs were shot or beaten to death by police.

Chinese as a race are hated the world over . It is no surprise for ethnic tension when Chinese have to share their space with other races. We are like jews. Our only problem is that the Chinese are more hardworking , good in business and excel in education . A lot of countries will a lot poorer without the Chinese.

Way to Go! CHINA! You have Chinese Americans' full support!
in Just one night -- 1000 crazy muslim nuts/uighurs seperatists rioters and 140 shot dead and 300 arrrests and 90 more after by the police and 800 casualties -- wow! That will sure teach those seperatists muslim nuts and tibetan monk nuts a serious lesson!
the extraordinary severity and swiftness of the crack down and the promptness the government handled it and anounced it tells the world loud and clear -- the Han Chinese Nation bears absolute no mercy towards seperation by any minorities. That makes me as a Chinese really proud!
