Taipei - The Forum of Central American Vice Presidents has invited Taiwan to join, Guatemalan Vice President Rafael Espada said Wednesday in Taipei.
Espada, who arrived in Taipei on Tuesday for a four-day visit, extended the invitation at a meeting with Taiwan's Vice President Vincent Siew.
Espada said the Forum of Central American Vice Presidents was launched to discuss regional issues, and Siew would join as an honorary member, attending the forum's meeting on climate change to be held in November.
Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou also received Espada Wednesday, and expressed satisfaction with the development of diplomatic ties between Taiwan and Guatemala.
Guatemala is one of 23 countries that recognize Taiwan, formally called the Republic of China (ROC).
