Seven killed as pickup tries to beat speeding train

Bangkok - Seven people were killed early Sunday when the driver of a pickup truck tried and failed to beat an express train, Thai police said.
The barriers had already been lowered but the driver dodged around and tried to cross the tracks before the train near Udon Thani, about 470 kilometres north-east of Bangkok, the Nation newspaper reported.
The Bangkok-Nong Khai express train pushed the vehicle 300 meters after the crashed on the Mittrapap highway shortly after 4 am, the report said.
