Earthquake hits south-west Japan

Tokyo - An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook south-west Japan on Friday.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties and the authorities did not issue a tsunami warning.
The quake, centred off the coast of Amami Oshima island, affected the Amami islands and Kagoshima province.
