Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian airport customs police have detained a Japanese woman after they allegedly discovered almost 5 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in her luggage, a news report said Monday.
The 30-year-old woman had arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on board a flight from Dubai on Friday.
Customs officers discovered two plastic bags containing 4.7 kilograms of the drugs worth an estimated 1.2 million ringgit (340,000 dollars) in one of her three bags, the official Bernama news agency said.
The woman was detained for questioning, and expected to be charged with drug trafficking, which carries the mandatory death sentence by hanging.
