US President Obama, Australian Prime Minister Rudd to meet
Nov 30, 2009, 5:54 GMT
Washington - US President Barack Obama was scheduled to meet later Monday with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd for talks on Afghanistan and climate change, the White House said.
The meeting comes ahead of next week's Copenhagen summit on climate change. Australia and the US are among the world's highest per capita emitters of climate-changing greenhouse gases.
Australia is a US ally in the war in Afghanistan against Taliban insurgents. On Tuesday, Obama is expected to announce an increase in US troop strength in Afghanistan, as sought by US commanders.
