Dec 20, 2009, 3:52 GMT
Manila - Three Indonesian women were arrested during a drug bust in the Philippines, a police spokesman said Sunday.
Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known was shabu, worth 12 million pesos (260,000 dollars), was seized from the suspects.
Espina said the operation was conducted Saturday evening in Makati City in metropolitan Manila.
He identified the arrested Indonesians as Magdalena Ridwhan, Mary Ridwhan and Secilia Ridwhan.
Six plastic packs of shabu were found in the possession of the three suspects, he said.
The suspects were taken to police headquarters for further investigation and possible filing of criminal charges.
Shabu is the most popular illegal drug in the Philippines, where the illicit trade rakes in about 700 million pesos every year, according to government estimates.
