Doulos, the ship of books, to make last voyage out of Singapore

Singapore - The Doulos, which claims to be the world's oldest ocean-going passenger ship, is set to go on its final voyage from Singapore, according to a media report Sunday.
Built two years after the Titanic, the vessel has been an international floating bookshop for the past 32 years, a concept that grew from an initial trip to transport literature from the West to places like India, according to a Channel News Asia report.
Harmen Rebel, advance team member of Doulos, said different options were being looked at for keeping the ship as it is.
'It is a very special ship with a rich history. We hope somebody will be able to buy it and use it as a museum, but probably it will end up on the scrapyard,' he said.
New regulations and safety requirements for ships were cited as among the reasons the ship may have to be mothballed or destroyed.
