Taipei - Taiwan on Monday airlifted 70 tons of relief supplies, including food, water and medicine to victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
The cargo jet chartered by the Foreign Ministry was expected to arrive in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday and would be transported by land to neighbouring Haiti.
Deputy Foreign Minister Hou Ching-shan said the aid being sent was part of 84 tons of supplies donated by various social groups.
Taiwan has already sent two search-and-rescue teams and donated 5 million US dollars, to Haiti. A team of volunteer doctors is set to depart for the Caribbean nation Tuesday.
President Ma Ying-jeou plans to visit Haiti, one of just 23 countries that recognize Taiwan, next week.
