Feb 8, 2010, 8:12 GMT
Manila - A kidnapped Yemeni man working for an international non-government organization was freed unharmed by his captors in the southern Philippines after more than a week in captivity, a police report said Monday.
Najid Al Udaini, 30, was released late Sunday in Takalag town in Bukidnon province, 845 kilometres south of Manila, the report said.
The victim was seized on January 29 by seven gunmen in front of his residence in Marawi City in nearby Lanao del Sur province.
It was not known if ransom was paid for his freedom.
Udaini was riding in a vehicle along with two other Yemenis and a Filipino driver when the gunmen blocked their path and abducted him.
He is a member of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth and has been involved in building madrasah religious schools and mosques in the southern region of Mindanao.
