Australians betting on Tiger leaving the lair
Feb 12, 2010, 4:58 GMT
Sydney - Australians are being offered the chance to bet that top golfer Tiger Woods will be out of the doghouse and back on the greens in time for April's US Masters in Augusta, Georgia.
'We think Tiger will make it back for the Masters,' SportsBet spokesman Haydn Lane said Friday.
The world number one has been sidelined since November 27, when a car crash led to revelations about his womanizing and to his being spurned by sponsors.
Leading internet betting agency SportsBet discounted predictions that Woods would end his furlough at next week's WCC-Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson, Arizona.
'Given Accenture was one of the first companies to drop Tiger, it would surprise if he made his comeback at this event,' Lane said.
A likely scenario is Woods having his first public outing at a less important tournament than the first major of the year, with some fans favouring the CA Championship in Miami and others the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.
Both events are in Florida in March.
