Bride drove drunk looking for husband
Feb 19, 2010, 19:36 GMT
Wellington - A New Zealand woman caught drunk driving on her wedding night was looking for her husband, who had disappeared, a New Zealand court was told Friday.
Paula Maree Taylor, 23, was fined 600 New Zealand dollars (420 US dollars) and banned from driving for six months when she appeared in court in Invercargill, charged with drunk driving on February 14.
She told police she had been worried about her husband when he disappeared as they were celebrating their wedding, so got behind the wheel to find him, the Southland Times reported on Saturday.
The judge said he had heard plenty of excuses from drunk drivers over the years, but never anything like Taylor's.
