Control tower supervisor at Taiwan airport to be fired for partying
Jul 6, 2010, 14:49 GMT
Taipei - Taiwan's aviation authorities on Tuesday ordered the island's largest airport to fire its control tower supervisor for holding drinking parties inside the tower.
The Civil Aeronautics Administration said the behaviour of the supervisor, identified only by his surname Lee, violated regulations so the Taoyuan International Airport outside Taipei should discharge him immediately.
The administration made the ruling after lawmaker Luo Shu-lei showed photographs of parties held in May and June at a news conference.
One of the photos showed plates of food sitting on desks and half-empty liquor bottles sitting on the floor of the control tower.
'The control tower looks like a bar,' Luo said. 'With such chaos going on, how can you guarantee flight safety?'
