Cotabato City, Philippines - Philippine police Friday filed charges of drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms against a US man and his Filipino wife, an army battalion commander said.
Jeffrey Bennett and his wife Sarah Cabugatan were arrested late Wednesday during a raid at their residence in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao province, 960 kilometres south of Manila, Colonel Ernesto Aradanas said.
The security forces allegedly seized 10 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, an illegal drug, and assorted firearms from their house.
The raid was conducted after anti-drug operatives received information that the couple were engaged in drug trafficking.
Bennett and his wife were being detained at the police headquarters in nearby Cotabato City.
