Thai cabinet approves 2-billion-dollar airport expansion
Aug 24, 2010, 9:38 GMT
Bangkok - Thailand's cabinet on Tuesday approved a 63-billion-baht (2-billion-dollar) expansion plan for Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
Thai Transport Minister Sophon Saram said the plan would include a second passenger terminal, offices and additional parking spaces. But plans to build a third runway had been dropped.
Airport officials said the expansion would take 72 months to complete.
Suvarnabhumi airport opened for business in September 2006, replacing Don Mueang as the capital's international airport.
