Beijing - This year's heavy flooding and related landslides have left 3,185 dead and 1,060 missing this year, according to China's Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA), reported the Xinhua news agency Tuesday.
About 230 million people have been affected by the floods, which swept across multiple Chinese provinces this year. The disaster has meant 15.2 million people had to be evacuated, reported the agency.
Additionally, 16.5 million hectares of crops were affected by the waters. The overall economic impact of the flooding stands at about 51.4 billion dollars, reported Xinhua, citing MCA figures.
The high waters have engulfed large parts of China this summer, with one mudslide on August 8 in Zhouqu in north-western China's Gansu province claiming 1,467 lives and leaving 298 missing.
