Taipei - Taiwan actor Ethan Juan and Chinese actress Lv Liping on Saturday won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards at Taiwan's Golden Horse Film Festival, dubbed the Oscar awards for Chinese-language films around the world.
Three other Chinese films also picked up awards.
Spring Fever, a film by Chinese director Lou Ye about homosexual love, won the Best Film Editing award. The film is banned in China as homosexuality is still a taboo subject there.
Bodyguards and Assassin, a joint Chinese-Hong Kong film about China's founding father Sun Yat-sen, won the Best Makeup and Costume award.
Judge, A Chinese film about China's illegal human organ trade, grabbed the Best Original Screenplay award.
Since Taiwan allowed Chinese films to freely compete in the Golden Horse Festival last year amid improved cross-strait ties, there has been closer exchanges in film-making between Taipei and Beijing.
US-based Taiwanese director Ang Lee, Chinese director Feng Xiaogang and actress Li Bingbing, and Hong Kong actors Jackie Chan, Tony Leung and Samo Hung attended the Golden Horse Awards presentation ceremony held at the Taoyuan Arena outside Taipei.
