Dec 17, 2010, 4:34 GMT
Tokyo - Thirteen people were hurt Friday when a man with a knife attacked women and children on two buses in Japan's Ibaraki prefecture near Tokyo, media reports said, citing police.
A 27-year-old unemployed man identified as Yuta Saito was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at the scene of the stabbings near the railway station in the town of Toride, the Kyodo News agency reported.
'I wanted to end my life,' the man reportedly told police.
Police said the assailant was on one bus when he began attacking passengers before getting off and boarding another bus and continuing his attacks.
Four people were reportedly stabbed with a 25-centimetre kitchen knife during the morning rush hour, and the rest were injured trying to escape, rescue officials said.
Thirteen people - 11 schoolchildren and two women - suffered mostly minor injuries.
