Taiwan Air Force chief funded son's wedding with military resources
Jan 6, 2011, 7:57 GMT
Taipei - A Taiwan Air Force commander was demoted Thursday for using military resources to hold an elaborate wedding for his son.
Former general Lei Yu-chi held his son's wedding on January 1 in an Air Force recreation centre, which was renovated shortly before at a cost of 5 million Taiwan dollars (17,000 US dollars).
About 50 officers and servicemen helped with the preparations and the event, but Lei insisted that their assistance was voluntary.
On Wednesday, lawmaker Tsai Huang-lang complained to parliament, saying that the 20-page manual Lei drew up to plan the occasion was more detailed than the mobilization plan for a war game.
