5 killed, 30 injured in bus crash in north-eastern Thailand

Bangkok - A Bangkok-bound passenger bus overturned on a highway in the north-eastern province of Khon Kaen, killing five passengers and injuring 30 others, local news reports said Saturday.
The accident happened at about 11 pm Friday along a highway in Nong Rua district when the bus driver tried to overtake a truck and lost control of the vehicle, according to TV and radio reports.
The bus flipped over and crashed into a ditch, killing five passengers including a five-year-old girl.
Thirty other victims were taken to hospital, some with serious injuries, the reports said.
Police said the bus driver was arrested on charges of reckless driving.
