British businessman jumps to death from Taipei hotel
Jan 17, 2011, 15:34 GMT
Taipei - A British businessman jumped to his death from a Taipei hotel in an apparent suicide, according to reports Monday.
Security cameras caught Taylor taking the lift to the 12th floor of the Howard Plaza Hotel, and from there walking up to the rooftop alone.
The man, who has been identified as 48-year-old David Taylor, then jumped from the hotel's 14th-floor rooftop. A taxi driver saw him landing on the pavement and alerted hotel staff.
Taylor was already dead when the ambulance arrived at the scene.
Both the Howard Plaza Hotel and police refused to speculate on the cause of Taylor's death, but online newspaper Nownews.com quoted an unnamed police officer as ruling it a suicide.
Taylor had arrived in Taipei on Friday to deal with a Taiwanese firm. He had been due to leave at the weekend.
