Singer Jimmy Buffett recovering after Sydney stage tumble
Jan 27, 2011, 0:01 GMT
Sydney - US singer Jimmy Buffett could be released from a Sydney hospital as early as Thursday after being treated for a head injury he suffered falling from the stage during an encore at his final Australian concert.
'He had a head injury, and he lost consciousness,' St Vincent's Hospital surgeon Gordian Fulde told local television. 'Scans show that he's OK.'
Fulde, who attended the concert, said the 64-year-old musician had misjudged the extent of the stage
'He really took a very nasty tumble,' Fulde said. 'He just didn't see the drop in front of the stage. I heard the crack, and I thought, 'This guy has broken his neck.''
A message posted on Buffett's website said he was doing well and should be released from St Vincent's before the end of the week.
