Philippines advises against travel to Libya, Bahrain, Yemen
Feb 21, 2011, 5:01 GMT
Manila - The Philippines on Monday advised its citizens to defer non-essential and non-urgent travels to strife-torn Libya, Bahrain and Yemen.
'This is in the light of protest actions taking place in those countries,' the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The department said it was closely monitoring the situations in these countries and would coordinate information with Filipino communities and workers there.
Government records showed there are 31,000 Filipinos in Bahrain, 1,400 Filipinos in Yemen and 26,000 Filipinos in Libya.
