New Delhi - Dozens of Tibetans were detained by police at a protest outside the Chinese embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday, organisers said.
The demonstration was held on the eve of the 52nd anniversary of a failed Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule.
Some 60 Tibetans staged a sit-in near the embassy where they shouted anti-China slogans.
'Some protestors tried to charge into the premises but were blocked by police and later detained,' organizer Konchok Yangphel from the Tibetan Youth Congress said.
'Around 40 Tibetans have been detained and should be released later on Wednesday.'
The organisation said Tibetans had vowed never to give up their struggle against the illegal Chinese occupation of their homeland.
India is home to about 100,000 Tibetan refugees who live in 35 settlements.
The Dalai Lama's government-in-exile, established after he fled to India following the 1959 uprising, is not officially recognised by any country.
