Stranded whales back out to sea in Australia
Mar 17, 2011, 23:46 GMT
Sydney - Whales that survived the stranding of a 30-whale on Tasmania's Bruny Island were returned to the sea Friday.
The 11 surviving pilot whales were pushed back out and swam away, Parks and Wildlife Service spokeswoman Rosemary Gales said.
'There's just been a sighting of some live whales that they're going to check out to determine if they're the same ones,' she told local radio.
Volunteers worked throughout the night to keep the whales wet after the pod was found on Butlers Beach on Thursday.
