New Zealand brewery launches "breakfast beer"
Apr 7, 2011, 3:18 GMT
Wellington - A New Zealand brewery launched what it called a 'breakfast beer,' a full strength lager with a cherry flavour but 5.5 per cent alcohol content, at an Auckland cafe on Thursday.
'On occasion, people enjoy champagne at breakfast time, so I thought, why not beer?' Josh Scott, of the Moa Brewing Company, Blenheim, in the heart of New Zealand's biggest wine-producing province Marlborough, said in a statement.
Moa Breakfast is a blend of premium wheat malt, floral Nelson hops and cherries, he said.
'Like champagne, it is bottle fermented and conditioned and is sealed with a cork and foil.'
