Top EU, Chinese foreign policy officials meet in Hungary
May 12, 2011, 18:40 GMT
Budapest - EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton and China's senior foreign policy official Dai Bingguo met in Hungary on Tuesday for the second part of an ongoing 'strategic dialogue.'
The talks covered global issues of concern to China and the EU and potential areas of cooperation such as the fight against cybercrime and sustainable development, Ashton told reporters after the meeting.
Ashton said she had also used the opportunity to 'set out the EU's views' on the human rights situation in China, the Hungarian state news agency MTI reported.
The talks were part of preparations for a EU-China summit due to be held in the second half of the year.
