Jun 20, 2011, 15:13 GMT
Taipei - Taiwan and China have agreed to increase the number of weekly cross-Taiwan Strait flights from the current 370 to 558, an aviation official said Monday.
The increased flights, 94 for each sides' airlines, will start operating with the winter scheduled in late October or early November, Lee Wan-li, deputy director of the Civil Aeronautics Administration told reporters.
The increase of cross-Strait flights is to meet with increased travel across the Taiwan Strait, amid improved bilateral ties.
Currently only Chinese tour groups are allowed to visit Taiwan, but Taiwan plans to allow solo Chinese tourists later this month.
