Officers battle dog with curious taste for police tyres
Jun 26, 2011, 5:53 GMT
Wellington - An aggressive dog that attacked and punctured the tyres of police vehicles four times in the New Zealand city of Auckland was finally captured, officials said Sunday.
A patrol sergeant had an encounter with a large black dog which attacked his vehicle and punctured the tyre, police reported.
After retreating and repairing the tyre, the sergeant returned and the dog attacked again, making a second puncture with its teeth.
Another sergeant who came to help then also had his tyre attacked and punctured, as did that of an animal control officer's vehicle which came to assist.
The dog escaped but officers later tracked it down and took it into custody, pending a decision on its future.
