Civil servant sues over sex on the job (correction)
Jul 27, 2011, 11:10 GMT
Sydney - An Australian civil servant is suing her employer for compensation for injuries she received during a sex romp while on official business.
Her lawyer told a Sydney court on Wednesday that cuts to her face were the result of 'an ordinary incident of life, commonly undertaken in a motel room at night - namely, lawful sexual activity.'
The woman was injured when a glass light fitting came away from the wall above a bed where she was having sex with an acquaintance while on a work trip.
The government is arguing that compensation is not payable as the injuries were not sustained during the course of her employment.
The lawyer for the government said civil servants needed to eat, sleep and attend to their personal hygiene while away for work but that 'you don't need to have sex.'
The case, reported by national broadcaster ABC, requires the woman's identity to be kept secret.
