Indonesian navy deploys ships after two killed in oil rig protest

Jakarta - The Indonesian navy deployed two ships Tuesday to secure an oil drilling station in the north-east of the country after protestors attacked the facility, state media reported.
Two people were killed on Monday when police opened fire to disperse dozens of protestors attacking the oil well on Tiaka island in Central Sulawesi province, Antara news agency reported.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the rioting.
'Two navy ships will patrol the area,' local naval commander Colonel Budi Utomo was quoted as saying.
The oil plant is jointly operated by state energy company PT Pertamina and PT Medco Tomori.
