Shark kills surfer in Australia
Sep 4, 2011, 8:07 GMT
Sydney - A surfer was killed by a shark at a popular beach on Australia's west coast, news reports said Sunday.
The man in his early 20s was bodyboarding with friends when the shark attacked in Bunker Bay, Dunsborough, 255 kilometres south of Perth.
A police spokesman told national broadcaster ABC that the shark took hold of a large part of the victim's lower body.
The identity of the victim would be released only after his family had been informed. Australia averages one fatal shark attack a year.
