Bogus Indonesian healer jailed for raping Malaysian teenager
Sep 19, 2011, 8:49 GMT
Kuala Lumpur - A Malaysian court on Monday sentenced an Indonesian man to eight years in jail for raping a 15-year-old girl during a bogus exorcism treatment, a newspaper reported.
Budi Tukul, 35, pleaded guilty to raping the young girl during a session in which he was supposedly cleansing the victim of spirits.
The girl's parents had brought their daughter to him in June 2010 after she had suffered bouts of hysteria, the Star newspaper said.
Tukul raped her after she was made to lie down in his living room for the 'treatment,' the report said.
The man from East Java was also sentenced to an additional 12 months in jail and one stroke of the cane for not having any valid travel documents.
