Schoolboy shot in Australian gang war
Oct 1, 2011, 9:28 GMT
Sydney - Australian police said Saturday they were appalled that motorcycle gang members will not cooperate with an investigation into the shooting of an 11-year-old boy inside his Adelaide home.
The boy was dropped off at hospital with two gunshot wounds to his leg following what is believed to be a confrontation between two motorcycle gangs.
'People know what's happened and they're not prepared to come forward and tell the police,' superintendent Howard Davies told national broadcaster ABC. 'I'm appalled that an innocent child ... has been shot.'
The boy's injuries are not life threatening.
Reporters who went to the beachside home, known to belong to a gangster, were pelted with eggs by those inside.
Rival motorcycle gangs often fight turf wars over protection rackets and drug dealing in Australia's cities.
