Warne-Hurley engagement old news, Melbourne paper says
Oct 2, 2011, 4:05 GMT
Sydney - Australian cricketer Shane Warne became engaged to British model-turned-actor Elizabeth Hurley weeks ago, the Melbourne Sunday Herald Sun said.
London papers reported that Warne, 42, had proposed to 46-year-old Hurley at a celebrity golf tournament in St Andrews, Scotland, on Thursday.
Warne, who divorced first wife Simone Callahan five years ago, met Hurley in July 2010 at a horseracing meet in Britain.
For the 13 years up to 2000, Hurley was romantically linked to actor Hugh Grant. She married London-based Indian textile heir Arun Nayar in 2007. They divorced in June.
The Melbourne tabloid said it had been told by a close friend of Warne that the couple had decided to marry weeks ago and that they would be visiting Australia's second-biggest city before the end of the month.
The glamour couple have not denied reports of their engagement.
'Thanks for all your congratulations. Here's a pic of us about to go to Dunhill dinner in St. Andrews,' Warne said on his website.
Warne, now retired from international cricket, is credited with reviving the art of spin bowling.
Hurley has a 9-year-old son, Damian, from a previous relationship with US entrepreneur Steve Bing.
Warne has three children with Callahan, whom he reconciled with after his divorce. The pair moved back in together but split again some time last year.
