Oct 24, 2011, 4:49 GMT
Hanoi - Floods have killed 14 people in central provinces and the Central Highlands of Vietnam in the last week, raising the national death toll to 70 over the past month, authorities said Monday.
Five people were missing and 18 injured, the National Steering Committee for Storm Prevention and Flood Control said.
At least 56 died in the Mekong Delta, including 47 children.
Floods have damaged more than 194,000 houses, and submerged more than 26,000 hectares of rice fields, the committee said.
It said losses were estimated at 100 million dollars, up 30 million dollars from its report a week ago.
Hundreds of people have been killed across South and South-East Asia, China and Japan in the past four months from monsoon flooding, typhoons and storms.
