Taipei - Major League Baseball (MLB) players began batting practice Monday for their upcoming five-game exhibition series against a Taiwanese squad this week.
The series is part of an effort by MLB to expand its reach into Asia, where it has gained an avid following among baseball fans.
Twenty-eight players made the trip across the Pacific Ocean Sunday. They will play five games on November 1 in New Taipei City, November 3-4 in Taichung and November 5-6 in Kaohsiung.
The roster includes New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and center fielder Curtis Granderson.
