Nov 9, 2011, 5:38 GMT
Hanoi - Flooding has killed 22 people in central Vietnam over the past week, bringing the nationwide death toll over recent months to 100, officials said Wednesday.
Seven people drowned over the weekend, and 15 have been reported dead since Monday, the Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control said. Two people were listed as missing.
Around 25,000 families have fled their homes in low-lying areas in Quang Nam province alone, the committee said.
On Monday, the United Nations said 78 people in the Mekong Delta have died during seasonal flooding, including 65 children. The floods began in late August.
