Dec 4, 2011, 23:41 GMT
Wellington - A 70-year-old man has been charged with a gunshot slaying that occurred 32 years ago, New Zealand police announced on Monday.
The suspect was not named pending his appearance in court.
A police statement said the victim, Rodney Tahu, a 32-year-old father of two, was shot in front of a petrol station on August 16, 1979, in the central North Island town of Turangi.
'An unsolved murder case is never closed,' Detective Inspector Mark Loper said. 'Files like this always remain open waiting for new information or a situation to change, and we regularly review cold cases in a renewed effort to try and solve them.'
