Beijing - China said on Thursday its ambassador to Myanmar had met with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, the news agency Xinhua reported.
'The Chinese ambassador met with [Aung San Suu Kyi] in response to her repeated requests to have contact with China, and [the ambassador] listened to her views,' said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin.
No details were given on what was discussed during the talks.
'Based on the principle of mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, China will engage in communication with all sectors of Myanmar society that support the China-Myanmar friendship,' Liu added.
