Storm's death toll in Philippines tops 200

Manila - The death toll in flash floods and landslides triggered by Tropical Storm Washi in the Philippines climbed to 234 Saturday, military and civil defence officials said.
The southern city of Cagayan de Oro suffered the most deaths, with soldiers recovering 133 bodies, said Major Eugenio Osias, an army spokesman. Troops also retrieved 75 bodies from the nearby city of Iligan, the military said.
The Office of Civil Defence said 18 were killed in the central province of Negros Oriental, five in the southern province of Compostella Valley and three in the southern province of Zamboanga del Norte.
