Australia's "vampire killer" to be freed
Dec 21, 2011, 1:37 GMT
Sydney - An Australian dubbed the 'vampire killer' after stabbing a man 27 times and drinking his blood could walk free from her Brisbane prison within weeks.
Queensland state Corrective Services announced Wednesday that Tracey Wigginton, 46, had won her latest application for parole.
Wigginton pleaded guilty to murder and was jailed for life in 1991 with a recommendation from the Queensland Supreme Court that she serve a minimum of 13 years.
Wigginton lost a parole bid earlier this year, being declared 'an unacceptable risk to the community' because of the 'serious and violent nature' of her offence.
Corrective Services said her case was reconsidered and parole granted.
