Eight people killed as truck rams houses in Philippines

Manila - Eight people were killed Thursday when a cargo truck ploughed through several houses in a city outside the Philippine capital, a provincial police chief said.
Five people were injured in the accident, which occurred as the truck descended a hilly portion of a highway in Antipolo City in Rizal province, 25 kilometres east of Manila, Senior Superintedent Manuel Cesar Prieto said.
The driver, who was among the injured, said he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into a row of houses and a canteen, according to Prieto.
