China's premier applauds work of Hong Kong government

Hong Kong - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Monday praised the the Hong Kong government at a meeting with its Beijing-appointed leader, Donald Tsang.
Wen said the central government 'fully affirmed' the work of the city administration in 2011, which he said helped the city prosper in the face of global economic turmoil.
Wen said Hong Kong had managed to stabilise the financial market, develop the economy, and improve quality of life, government-run radio station RTHK said.
Tsang is paying his final visit to Beijing as chief executive. A successor will be selected by a pro-Beijing committee in March.
Hong Kong reverted to Chinese sovereignty in 1997 after 156 years as a British colony.
