Australian toddler survives python attack
Dec 29, 2011, 1:56 GMT
Sydney - A 2-year-old in the far-north Australian tourist town of Port Douglas came away with just bite wounds after a python tried to squeeze the life out of him, news reports said Thursday.
His mother told the Cairns Post newspaper that the boy was playing in their backyard late Monday when the snake struck.
'I heard this blood-curdling scream,' she said. 'The snake was biting his leg and was wrapped around his whole body to his chest. It started constricting.'
Neighbours rushed over and helped her pull the snake off her son, who was treated for bite wounds at Cairns Base Hospital before being released Tuesday.
